Juliet Russell is a composer, facilitator, musical director and singer. Her compositions have been described as ‘blissed out acapella’ by The Independent and her voice as ‘brilliantly haunting’ by The Stage.
Juliet is the founder of Vocal Explosion – facilitating three choirs,and mass sings at international conferences and festivals such as Womad and the Barcelona Forum. Her extraordinary sound has been heard by over 40,000 people in over 30 countries.Her compositions used in film, TV, radio, theatre, dance and football stadiums!
She has performed her compositions on the rooftop of the National Theatre amongst Anthony Gormleys sculptures, in the British Museum for The Book of the Dead, and has been commissioned to compose for brass bands, choirs & bhangra, to name a few, creating theatre & processional work for performances on seafronts, castles, cathedral grounds.
In many of her compositions, Juliet uses phonetics to create a unique language to create feeling of ‘the ancient’ mixed with driving vocal rhythms layered with Global harmonies that evoke the voices of Eastern Europe to Africa & tribal Briton.
